Vegan Cup Cakes (Rabbit Buns)

I have been developing a vegan recipe for cup cakes recently and this has passed the ''kids'' test. Not one of them complained that it tasted too healthy. They look very nice too, with rabbit ears - not unlike butterfly buns which have butterfly wings instead!

I have a couple more tests to do before the recipe is published. We made them today with the kids for tomorrow's coffee morning (at our local pub) in aid of McMillan Nurses - The Biggest Coffee Morning in the World. Hmm now that's an idea - I'll sell the recipe too in aid of McMillan.

We Love Vegetables

There's no photo at the moment. At one meal I started giving out pieces of card cut into the shape of vegetables to the children who had eaten all of the vegetable on their plates. The wrote their names on the cut out vegetable shapes; I told them we were going to make them into stickers after tea. They were all keen to get the stickers and even children who did not normally try any vegetables were soon clearing their plates.

After tea we used the sticker maker and they stuck their vegetables on the poster. We now need a further sheet of card to make the poster bigger.

I need to make a poster without the children's names on the vegetables just to show you what they did. Then I'll take a photo of that!

Ladybird Lifecycle

Between March and June the front garden was home to hundreds of ladybirds.

There were three different colourways. The more usual red with seven black spots, but there were also some red with two black spots and some black with red spots.

We watched them for weeks; they ate greenfly, they mated, laid eggs, the eggs hatched and ladybird larvae ate the greenfly on the apple tree and then pupated and then emerged as ladybirds again. And all before our very eyes.

At the end of it all, we gathered together the art work and photographs and made this display.

We also made a book which I will tell you about later because I haven't photographed it yet.

Childminding

Here is my blog about Childminding. I shall put in all the stuff I do with the kids and any great ideas I have. I don't like doing 'Annual Reviews' because I do new stuff all the time and it is like writing down EVERYTHING I do so I thought a Blog would be a better way, so I can add to it on a regular basis. Not all my fabulous ideas work, so a ''do try this at home with caution'' sticker goes on everything.
